We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

Tax Compliance

  • Corporation tax returns: coordinating the preparation of, and reviewing federal, state and local corporation tax returns and associated filings in consultation with Company's local country and regional controllers having oversight of third-party service providers engaged in preparing the foreign income tax returns;
  • Payroll tax returns: coordinating with the local country and regional controllers in implementing complete and accurate local payroll tax returns;
  • Transfer duties: coordinating the preparation of, and reviewing returns and associated filings covering duties payable on acquisitions and restructures post-closings, in consulting with Company's local country controllers;
  • Assessments and Audit: liaising with and providing the group finance function, the taxation information required by external auditors and compiling a register of annual assessments issued on trading subsidiaries;
  • Tax audit: establishing policies and procedures ensuring timely responses to notices received from tax authorities requiring further supporting information;
  • VAT returns: coordinating the preparation of, and reviewing all VAT, GST and similar returns in consultation with Company's local country controllers who have oversight of third-party service providers engaged to prepare the returns;
  • Quarterly tax estimates: overseeing completion of quarterly tax estimates including collaborating with group treasury in estimating and monitoring cash taxes on a regular basis and ensuring timely payment of cash tax liabilities;
  • Withholding taxes: managing compliance with the subsidiaries' dividend and interest withholding tax obligations including liaising with the local taxation authorities in obtaining double taxation convention certificates and coordinating with lenders to the group, their providing withholding tax certificates;
  • Amendments to taxation laws and practice: monitoring and advising on law and practice changes applicable to the group;
  • Transfer Pricing: Implementing, managing and monitoring transfer pricing policies and procedures for intercompany transactions including maintaining proper contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation including the group's Master File and Local Country files; and
  • Tax Rulings Register: Implementing, managing and monitoring a register of the group's rulings from all the taxation authorities in which group trades or is established.

Tax Planning

  • In conjunction with the Group's Tax key stakeholders:
  • Acquisitions: conducting tax due diligence on potential acquisitions and liaising with the group's external legal advisers; and
  • Restructuring: researching and advising on the taxation consequences of post - acquisition restructuring required to obtain intended efficiencies including any requesting rulings from local taxation authorities
  • The successful applicant will also assist the lead taxation adviser on taxation issues arising when considering and completing complex submissions, appeals, related party financings, and common use of group assets and services including centralisation.

Administration:

  • Training: drafting memorandum on group tax compliance policy and procedures, for dissemination to regional controllers after approval, including auditing compliance of the procedures;
  • IT: Collaborate with IT on necessary tax applications and interfaces currently provided by third party service providers

  • Formal qualifications: preferably in both accounting and law, specialising in taxation;
  • Vocational qualifications: preferably membership of a recognised international accounting body;
  • Work experience: preferably approx. 10 years PQE in a big 4 accounting firm based in London, New York or Hong Kong. A combination of both public and private accounting experience will be favourably viewed;
  • Languages: English together with one or both of French and German;
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyse complex problems and develop and implement logical solutions;
  • Excellent communication skills and problem: solving skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the Company;
  • Proficiency with tax research software and tax provision software;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
