Our client based in Stevenage are looking for an Assistant Finance Business Partner on a full-time, temporary basis for 6 months.

Assistant Finance Business Partner- Job Overview

As an Assistant Finance Business Partner your duties will include:

• To aid the Finance Business Partner and support Business Unit Managers within the Finance Business Partner service remit with financial advice and guidance regarding budget monitoring and budget setting
  
• To be pro-active in identifying opportunities for the business units and in particular the repair and maintenance service, identifying unit costs and monitoring the bottom line for commercial areas of the business, suggesting appropriate course of action to mitigate any losses
  
• To prepare journals and virements to ensure compliance with Financial Regulations
  
• Responsible for monitoring budgets and providing budget reports monthly and/or as requested by the Business Unit. The monitoring requires identifying variances from budgets and using expert knowledge of the business area to provide accurate forecasts of expenditure and income in conjunction with the officers concerned
  

Assistant Finance Business Partner- Skills & Experience Required

• Up to date knowledge of local government financial regulations/legislation is essential
  
• Previous experience of budget monitoring and variance analysis is essential
  
• Technical and management accounting experience is essential
  
• Ability to use Excel & Word computer applications at an advanced level
  
• Strong organisational and time management skills
  
• Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
  
• Experience of advising and guiding a senior management team in accordance with relevant guidance and legislation

• Pay rate: £21.60ph plus holiday pay
