About The Role

The Payroll team provides a comprehensive service using technology to better support our employees and enable an empowered self-service and support function. We are also in the process of designing and implementing a new solution for our payroll.

The Payroll Adviser will provide a high quality payroll service, using a depth of payroll knowledge to support our internal and external customers, dealing with a high volume of diverse transactions and working to strict deadlines. With responsibility for resolving payroll queries and performing an analytical processing role, within one or more of the payroll disciplines

About You

Experience of using payroll systems to deliver a high quality service with good working knowledge of payroll processes including statutory payments, deductions and pension schemes with the ability to undertake manual calculations is essential.

Ability to communicate effectively with a high standard of written communication.
You will have experience of working in a customer-orientated environment, dealing with queries in a service delivery setting and continuously seeking to improve the services provided.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate. This is an annual subscription and you will be responsible for ensuring this is maintained.
