BACKGROUND

Bertelsmann KGaA is one of the world's largest multinational media groups. Headquartered in Germany the group owns companies engaged in television and radio broadcasting, television programme production and distribution, book publishing, music publishing and media related support businesses. Companies owned by Bertelsmann include RTL Group, Europe's largest radio and television broadcasting group and Penguin Random House, one of the world's largest book publishers. The group also owns BMG Rights Management, a leading music publisher and recorded music group.

Bertelsmann has established a tax function in the UK which manages the tax affairs of the Bertelsmann and RTL Group companies in a range of territories including the UK. Due to the retirement of the current incumbent a role has been identified within the tax function for a UK corporate tax manager to assist in the management of the corporate tax affairs of the UK group.

The role will report to the VP Tax. On a day to day basis the successful candidate will also work closely with finance colleagues in the various UK businesses. The ideal candidate should typically have a recognised accounting or tax qualification and have worked in a UK corporate tax environment for at least 5 years. Experience of working with media businesses would be preferable although not essential. A good working knowledge of OneSource Corporate Tax software (previously Abacus) is highly desirable.
