Part time to full time Returner Position: Employment Tax Professional, 6 months contract, £50-60K dependent on experience, min 3 days per week up to full time, Initially remote, then Remote/Shoreditch, London (JO2853)
The Returnship
Our client is offering a series of six-month paid placements aimed at supporting professionals returning to the workplace who have had a recent career break of 18 months or more. This Employment Tax Professional role will form part of an Autumn intake and is designed to offer a rewarding, challenging experience. Role purpose
Are you an experienced employment tax professional, looking for an exciting return to the workplace? This could be the perfect opportunity to use and enhance your tax skills on this six-month placement, reporting to the VP of Rewards and working closely with the HR, Finance and Tax teams as well as a point of contact for all other areas of the organisation for employment tax matters.
The role will require previous experience of working in employment tax and excellent analytical skills with the ability to work with and or support a variety of teams. Excellent Microsoft office skills are essential. This is very much a collaborative not a stand-alone role, so you will have a desire to be part of a great team.
Below are some of the tasks although these are not exclusive:


• Employer taxes- assisting with the management of employer taxation-related issues and obtaining advice from external advisors as required

• Being current on legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll.

• Advising management, the Reward and Payroll teams on required actions.

• Ensuring the organisation's compliance with payroll tax reporting and withholding responsibilities.

• Advising and assisting with taxation issues for global mobility cases and liaising with a third-party vendor if necessary

• Assisting with employment tax queries of special payments including but not limited to termination payments, split payments for global transfers and other company driven allowances / lump sum payments.

• Assist with other ad hoc tax duties within the area of Employment Tax.

• Assist with HMRC enquiries.
The Candidate
Key requirements for role:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant or a member of Chartered Institute of Taxation

• Good UK tax compliance skills

• Previous experience and an excellent understanding of UK employment tax

• Self-starter with desire to drive change, innovate and problem-solve

• Ability to work under pressure to multiple tight deadlines

• Good commercial sense

• Great communication and influencing skills

• Ability to manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships at all levels

• High level of numeracy and keen attention to detail

• Ability to think strategically and consider future implications when preparing/reviewing work and/or advising on project work

• Able to build relationships and trust within the organisation and work effectively as part of diverse teams.

• Able to deal with ambiguity, imprecise or incomplete data, and other people's time constraints in requesting information and delivering practical advice.
Terms
This Employment Tax Professional role is part of a blue chip Returnship Programme seeking applications from an Employment Tax background who have had a recent career break (ideally 18 months or more). The role is a 6 month contract with training and development offered and a range of hours will be considered. The office is based in Shoreditch, however in the current climate the expectation is that this role may initially be remote based, with a potential requirement for this to be office or part-office based at a later date.
Hours: negotiable (min 3 days up to full-time)
Salary: £50-£60k dependent on experience
The placement will commence in the Autumn of 2020.
