We are looking for an individual with financial accounting experience (ideally gained in accounting firm or financial services company). The role

  • Regulatory reporting including the preparation of monthly solvency position and preparation of RMAR returns
  • Prepare financial accounts for Miller and Dawson entities and deal with audit queries in line with the audit timetable
  • Advise management of changes to Accounting standards, Tax legislation and tax planning opportunities (particularly corporation tax and VAT), and in conjunction with tax advisors implement changes.
  • Preparation of group consolidated accounts and supporting information including the net assets, reserves and man-stat schedules
  • Assist with the preparation/calculation and reconciliation of the corporation and deferred tax for the various Miller entities across various jurisdictions
  • Ownership of the balance sheet checklist by ensuring its completion and sign-off of by the respective individuals including preparing the respective reconciliations assigned to me
  • Oversee organising in-house tax training for the NIBA team to refresh knowledge as well as getting an update on any changes/amendments and clarify our practices/application of the rules/standards
  • Ownership and oversight of specific entity's trial balance
  • Revaluation of balance sheet currency balances and income
  • Assist where needed with month end reporting including monthly reforecasting, reconciliations, profit walks reconciliations
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting process
  • Undertake financial analysis of clients, competitors, cover holders etc. as necessary.


The candidate

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Knowledge of accounting standards essential
  • Knowledge of general regulatory principles and reporting requirements essential
  • Knowledge of accounting IT systems
  • Intermediate level Excel skills
  • Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) knowledge preferable
  • Experience in a financial accounting role is essential
  • Experience of working in an accounting firm or financial services company is preferable
  • Significant technical training as part of studies towards a professional qualification
