Tax Manager / Assistant Tax Manager

About the role

We have a new opportunity for a Tax Manager / Assistant Tax Manager to join our Finance Team at our Accolade Park site close to the M5 near Bristol. You will be required to assist Head of Corporate Finance Europe in meeting tax and statutory compliance requirements for the UK consolidated group, including foreign subsidiaries and branches in South Africa, Chile, Russia, Poland, China and Hong Kong.

About the role - Key Accountabilities
  • Responsible for managing Corporate Tax and VAT compliance, including meeting all filing deadlines of the group and payments of taxes for Corporation Tax and VAT
  • Preparation of tax calculations for month end, year-end group reporting, budgeting/forecast and statutory accounts
  • Review and preparation of quarterly VAT returns, review monthly intrastat reports and EC Sales Lists
  • Responsible for VAT set up for customers and suppliers
  • Thorough review and scrutiny of VAT, corporate income tax returns for overseas branches and operations
  • Preparation and submission of corporation tax computations and returns for all group companies
  • Review and approve monthly GL reconciliations for the tax accounts in the UK General Ledger
  • Review work performed by Tax and Finance Analyst
  • Manage and perform annual Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) testing to support SAO certification
  • Review PAYE Settlement Agreement workings and return
  • Assist with and perform research on routine tax queries from the wider teams
  • Preparation of information to the tax authorities where required
  • Assist with any ad hoc queries/projects as required
  • Continuously improve and document procedures and controls for all aspects of the role
  • Coach and manage Tax and Finance Analyst
  • Assist in management and preparation of statutory accounts and audits where required
About you

Essential knowledge and skills:


Functional:

  • Experienced in Corporation tax compliance
  • VAT experience preferable but not essential
  • Good understanding of tax accounting and reporting requirements
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and multitask

  • Good attention to detail, dedicated to providing quality, error free work

Required experience
  • Experienced in excel and ERP system
  • Exposure to indirect taxes
Required Qualifications


• Accredited Charted Accountant (ACA) UK, or

• Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) UK

Physical and other requirements

You will have the flexibility to work out of office hours to accommodate the occasional call with our Australian colleagues and have the ability to travel to our Weybridge site if required.
