Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to manage one of our Customer Contracts as the Contract Finance Manager. This is an excellent opening to join a fast paced, growing business and really make a difference.

How will you contribute?

  • Publish Weekly Management Information for the contract to incorporate P&L Accounts down to profit centre level as well as stats and productivity measures to assess the efficiency of the contract against budgetary targets.
  • Produce Period Reports for the Customer for period review purposes, again containing detailed finance and statistical reports and trend analysis to the specification requested by the customer.
  • Produce Period Reports for use in internal contract reviews with the General Manager and the Commercial Manager.
  • Create detailed forecasts and the annual contract operating budget.
  • Prepare customer budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage the processes of reporting into Wincanton Central Finance and to control reporting into the 'Cube' to ensure accuracy, with investigation of any variances.
  • Manage the processes around Wincanton and Customer Period End's in order that all deadlines are achieved.
  • Build commercial awareness of the contracts to be able to develop financial analysis that supports customer strategy and growth plans.
  • Work closely with Customer Finance Contacts in supporting their understanding of expenditure and in decision making processes
  • Tracking and Co-ordinating any Continuous Improvement and Cost Saving Initiatives
  • Being a key part of the contract management team in delivering initiatives and budgetary targets.
  • Attendance and participation in regular contract and customer meetings.
  • Supporting the General Manager as necessary and working with fellow peers within the management team
  • Ensure production of Weekly Management Accounts and to review processes and trends to ensure accurate control and reporting of costs.
  • To review all Balance Sheet Accounts on a periodic basis to ensure all balances are reconciled and that no provision for liability exists.
  • To set up, review and maintain the necessary financial controls in line with Wincanton guidelines
  • Cost Gainshare projects & track actuals
  • Involvement in Finance driven projects to improve controls and reporting
  • Understand variance to Business case and apply contractual KPI reporting and tracking.
  • Ad-hoc reporting as required

What will you bring?

  • Part-qualified CIMA/ACCA (Managerial Level) with at least 3 years' experience in a Finance team, preferably in the Logistics Industry
  • Self-motivated with a "get stuck in" attitude
  • Customer focused with drive to achieve
  • Ability to build relationships with other departments
  • Willingness to learn new skills at a fast pace
  • Ability to prioritise workload work to tight deadlines
  • Able to work in a team environment as well as on own initiative
  • Numerate and methodical with good problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Able to seek, evaluate and organise information in a pressure environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Have an appreciation of the broad fundamentals of operations in an open book environment
  • Advanced Excel skills with expertise in Pivots and Data manipulation
