EPD Finance is primarily responsible for financial accounting, JGAAP & USGAAP Financial reporting to Head Office, Regulatory Reporting to Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Bank of England (BoE), Financial Planning and Management Reporting, Treasury Finance Reconciliation & Reporting, Taxation and managing bank-wide SOX Programme to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.


EPD Finance also proactively support and mentor Finance departments of other EMEA units in areas of Accounting, Taxation and Internal Controls.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • IFRS conversion of Japanese GAAP profit to IFRS profit (including ECL calculation based on IFRS 9 standards)
  • Preparation of IFRS profit and loss account statements
  • Maintain fixed assets register and prepare all fixed assets related Head Office reports
  • Co-ordination of systems suspense accounts process
  • Preparation and review of monthly closing journals and adjustments
  • Preparation of Financial Accounting Reports in order to support the Bank in meeting its deadlines to its various stakeholders


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


In this role, you will be responsible for Financial Reporting across MUFG's banking arm and securities business under a dual-hat arrangement. Under this arrangement, you will act and make decisions on behalf of both the bank and the securities business, subject to the same remit and level of authority, and irrespective of the entity which employs you.


  • Monthly preparation of IFRS 9 ECL adjustments in Modus, liaising with relationship managers to establish staging based on credit rating. Review of discounted cash flow calculations based on borrower rating and market scenarios. IFRS accounting of held for sale loans which includes liaising with Front Offices for fair value calculations. Keep up to date with changes to the current reporting requirements.
  • Assist with upgrades and testing of the ECL reporting system to enable continuous accurate reporting. Working with technology to ensure any issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Preparation of monthly Japanese GAAP to IFRS profit conversion for tax calculation and presenting to Senior Management with detailed analysis
  • Preparation of IFRS profit and loss account statement
  • Review of systems suspense accounts and control and maintenance of designated suspense accounts, liaising with account owners to ensure validity and accuracy of individual account transactions and timely capitalization of assets
  • Responsible for review of Application of Systems Development Forms and fixed assets coding in Concur (Payments Systems)
  • Control (existence, valuation and completeness) of the Bank's fixed assets register and preparation of fixed assets reports to relevant stakeholders including responding to any ad hoc enquiries relating to fixed assets.
  • Completion of monthly closing journals, ledger adjustments and reconciliations
  • Half yearly Variable Interest Entity reporting
  • Preparation and reconciliation of intercompany recharges
  • Quarterly and semi-annual Japanese GAAP and US GAAP reporting preparation and review ensuring complete, accurate and timely preparation and submission of reports.


WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential:

  • Experience in banking/financial services within the Financial Reporting and Regulatory Reporting functions
  • Working knowledge of IFRS standards including IFRS 9 ECL calculations


Preferred:

  • Fixed assets reporting experience


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access) is essential for the role as well as exposure to accounting software packages.
  • Good written and verbal skills


Education / Qualifications:

  • Professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) - essential
  • Degree or equivalent experience
