London Band: IIAbout the team/divisionHiscox London Market is experiencing a high-level of change . The Lloyd's market environment is tough and therefore we are altering how and what we underwrite. The London Market pricing function has the ambition to become business partners to the underwriting community and management team - to lead the way at data and analytics in Lloyd's.The Pricing function is embedded in the four Hiscox London Market divisions: Marine & Energy, Property, Specialty and Casualty.The RoleThis role will be mainly Marine and Energy focused, reporting to the Head of Pricing for Marine and Energy (M&E). There are four lines within the M&E division: Cargo, Hull, Marine and Energy Liability and Upstream Energy. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all four lines of business.We are looking for someone who can take ownership, work independently and thrive on ambiguity. We want an individual who can work around a problem and communicate effectively. You will need to find solutions to problems where there isn't an established approach and be able to back these up with the relevant facts and figures. You should also be inquisitive and restless to learn.What you'll be doing as a Pricing Analyst in the Marine & Energy Team:Providing analytical support for the underwriters and management through large risk pricing, model development, business planning, performance monitoring and portfolio analysisOwning, updating and improving the Marine & Energy pricing models used by underwritersProviding high quality pricing analysis to help assess the expected profitability of new opportunitiesFinding insight in large data sets and exploring around the subject to glean competitive advantageClearly and concisely communicating complex issues to a wide variety of stakeholdersActing as the key liaison with the Reserving, Capital Modelling, Exposure Management and Finance functions as part of the actuarial control cyclePosition Requirements:Our must-haves:Educated to degree level with numerate emphasisKnowledge of statistical models and data analysis techniquesSuperb Excel skills and strong IT skills e.g. SQL, R, Python, VBA.Speak and write fluent business EnglishGood communication skillsBe restlessly inquisitive about the subject matterOur nice-to-haves:Studying towards actuarial examsPricing or General Insurance experienceDiversity and flexible working at HiscoxAt Hiscox we care about our people.
