SVP, Accounting and FP&A - Real Estate

JOB TITLE:  SVP, Accounting & Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
DEPARTMENT:  Saban Real Estate

The Senior Vice President of Accounting and FP&A will be responsible for leading financial planning and accounting, including monitoring, forecasting, budgeting, analysis and reporting for the Real Estate portfolio. You will work closely with the CEO, CIO and Executive Team to develop and model new financial strategy and serve as the catalyst for assessing underlying performance of the business, and identifying trends and making high level recommendations on how to evolve strategy to drive improved financial results. 


  • Set financial priorities and influence key business decisions
  • Analyze trends and assess financial health of the business to assist with long term planning, day to day decisions, and contingency scenarios
  • Strategize with the CFO and F&A teams to identify and implement projects that drive efficiencies within the function
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting and forecasts for leadership
  • Ensure strong financial accounting, reporting, and controls
  • Monitor actual results and perform analysis to explain variances between actuals and forecasts
  • Drive conversations with business leaders and accounting to determine reasons for variances, understand implications of future forecasts, and develop mitigating strategies as necessary
  • Prepare presentations and present to senior management
  • Maintain compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements
  • Provide leadership, direction and management of the Real Estate finance and accounting team
  • Oversight and coverage across the Real Estate platform by collaborating with the Real Estate Controller
  • Manage the monthly accounting process which includes overhead budget, payroll and cash management
  • Manage investor relations to include capital calls, distributions, tax estimates, K1s and reporting
  • Work collaboratively with the CFO and CIO to evaluate, document and maintain policies and procedures
  • Collaborate to design workflow processes and reporting in ERP system
  • Maintain investment performance real estate portfolio and joint ventures
  • Work collaboratively with asset management and acquisition teams
  • Oversee accounting activities of the third-party property manager for national real estate portfolio 
  • Coordinate the annual budget process with third party property management
  • Maintain relationships with debt providers, coordinate preparation of debt compliance
  • Manage and coordinate annual audit and tax compliance in coordination with third party providers and internal tax department
  • Cash management/monthly funding of properties
  • Involvement in transactional items - refinancing/purchase/sales
  • Maintain relationships with JV partners
  • Review monthly financials and return calculations of JV partners
  • Review annual review/audit prepared by JV partners
  • Work alongside the Real Estate controller to review and approve key deliverables
  • Manage, mentor and develop Accounting team; manage work allocation, coach and train, collaboratively problem-solve, conduct regular performance evaluations, and support an effective team dynamic
  • Ad-hoc projects as requested


  • 10 years of experience in accounting and finance; real estate industry, preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance
  • CPA, MBA, or CFA preferred
  • Strong systems aptitude; MS Excel modeling, analysis, and reporting skills should be at the highest level- this is a must for this role.
  • Possess excellent discovery, communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to direct, influence and coach a team of partners, peers, and direct reports 
  • Highly motivated; excellent verbal/written communication
  • Ability to meet deadlines quickly and accurately, multi-task and work well under pressure with changing priorities
  • Demonstrates impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • A strong foundation in maintaining policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure integrity of financials
  • Maintain an environment of excellence and a “can do” culture
  • Yardi experience preferred
