Job purpose

The Senior Direct Pharma and R&D (DPRD) Risk Manager leads Roche's efforts to identify and mitigate sources of supplier risk with cross-functional teams while building business processes and tools to continuously monitor risks to Roche's critical suppliers. One of the top strategic initiatives of the Global Procurement Sustainability & Risk team is to improve the resiliency of supply through identification and management of supplier risks. The Senior DPRD Risk Manager owns and manages our Direct Pharma Procurement and Research & Development Procurement program. This role facilitates the supplier risk management process for Direct Pharma Procurement and Research & Development Procurement, which includes supplier due diligence, ongoing monitoring, risk mitigation, business continuity management, and life cycle management to ensure that business critical suppliers pose the least minimal risk to Roche and comply with the standards set forth in the Roche Supplier Code of Conduct.

The Senior DPRD Risk Manager is responsible for the oversight of end-to-end risk management program for manufacturing, research, and clinical supply, building data driven analysis to inform risk mitigation and business continuity management actions, development of strategy and business cases to support recommendations. This role is responsible for the implementation, expansion, and maturation of the DPRD supplier risk program. The Senior DPRD Risk Manager is expected to be a change agent for the function as well as to ensure close alignment to cross-divisional stakeholders.

• Guide people - Guide Procurement and Business stakeholder staff (and project related staff as appropriate) and contribute to feedback.

Core accountabilities

Direct and R&D Supplier Risk Management


• Oversee the execution of end-to-end supplier risk management activities throughout the supplier lifecycle (Planning, Due Diligence, Contacting, Ongoing Monitoring & Termination).


• Perform portfolio-wide assessment of supplier risk across programs, manufacturing stages and geographical sites.


• Together with the supplier manager, connect directly with key suppliers to facilitate risk mitigation


• Ensure relevant risk clauses are included in direct supplier agreements and negotiate to protect the interests of Roche as appropriate


• Identify opportunities to downgrade risk level including alternate sourcing where appropriate


• Identify sustainability opportunities and liaise with Sustainability Tower to drive realization


• Management, administration, documentation, and communication of DPRD Supplier Risk Management capability such as risk registry, procedures, requirements, technology, and supporting tools.


• Ensure risk management processes are continuously improved to reflect program priority, strategy, and ensure consistency across products.


• Nurture and maintain standards and serve as business owner of process, systems and templates related to DPRD supplier risk management


• Collaborate with Global Procurement and partner functions (e.g. Process Development, Clinical Development, Manufacturing, Operations Strategy, Group SHE, Quality) to achieve the most effective integration of available tools and data into DPRD supplier risk management processes.


• Lead or chip in to cross-functional initiatives intended to improve DPRD supplier risk profile and ensure end-to-end process adherence by various stakeholders.


• Develop and own DPRD's supply chain risk maps.


• Identify sustainability opportunities and liaise with Sustainability Tower to drive realization

Direct and R&D Supplier Risk Strategy


• Own the end-end DPRD supplier risk strategy, roadmap, and business continuity execution of key global DPRD suppliers.


• Build supplier risk management strategy for key DPRD suppliers, ensure programs adheres to risk management plans and process by generating metrics and reports.


• Develop Key Risk Indicators and reporting dashboards for monitoring DPRD program effectiveness.


• Develop production scenarios and capacity models to support business continuity management for critical and strategic suppliers.


• Performs opportunity/risk and cost-benefit analyses and develops business cases.


• Present business continuity recommendations to Senior Management and drive decisions.


• Develop addressable market analyses and assess industry economics.

Relationship Management


• Liaise with the DPRD Global Procurement Category and Regional Sourcing Leads on Preferred and Available Content suppliers.


• Drive decision-making through supplier insights, quantitative analysis, and collaborating with other stakeholders.


• Provide centralized support, training, and leadership for DPRD supplier risk related programs and other functions who work on supplier risk management plans and communications.


• Develop thought leadership on emerging trends in the pharmaceutical DPRD space.


• Evangelize Sustainability and Risk initiatives across the Roche Global Procurement community.


• Act a major change champion of supplier risk and sustainability processes across Global Procurement.

• Responsibility for management, administration, documentation, and communication of DPRD supplier risk management capability such as risk assessments, risk registry, supplier business continuity plans, procedures, requirements, technology, and supporting tools.

Education, experience and skills

Required


• Advanced degree in Law, Business, Science, or Engineering


• Extensive experience in the biotechnology/ pharmaceutical industry including leadership roles


• Proven understanding of drug development, commercialization and operations planning


• Established understanding of manufacturing, supply chain fundamentals and risk management.


• Experienced in continuous improvement of business processes, including process ownership, oversight and monitoring.


• Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity, ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable meaningful business analyses and influence decision-making.


• Proven success in navigating a highly matrix-based organization to deliver against complex program plans.


• Ability to communicate vertically and horizontally through numerous channels, utilize cross-functional network to complete goals.


• Recognized ability to handle more than one complex project simultaneously


• Ability to optimally handle contending priorities and timelines


• Good discernment, high-level critical thinking and strong analytical skills


• Strong writing and presentation skills


• Good working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint
