The role

We are looking for a financial modelling and accounting analyst to work within Redburn's numbers team, which is part of the research management department. The role will help Redburn to extend its coverage of European and US stocks and will facilitate robust modelling and accounting practices throughout the firm. The role will involve:

  • Managing the model building pipeline. This involves liaising with our equity analysts, prioritising needs, delegating to our graduate and building accurate and robust company financial models. It is essential that these have a rigorous and detailed P&Ls and fully integrated financial statements. Model specification will differ depending on sector.
  • Performing model audits on analyst's existing models to identify Excel logic, calculation, accounting or valuation errors and to offer constructive areas for improvement.
  • Providing accountancy training for junior analysts.
  • Providing numbers checking support on occasions when necessary. This involves reviewing the numerical content of Redburn's research and financial models and day-to-day management of Redburn Today, our client facing website.

This role acts as ideal training for an equity analyst career. If desired, this progression to one of the fundamental sector research teams could take place after 2 years. The candidate's initial remit will offer insight into the life, pressures and daily practices of successful publishing analysts.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree level education (2.1 or above).
  • ACA qualification; likely to have first time passes. Manager level preferred if currently employed in an accounting firm.
  • Experience in financial modelling (preferably in a business modelling department of an accounting firm).
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team
  • Good communication skills to engage with our analysts.
