The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are currently working exclusively with a leading public sector organisation based on the outskirts of Edinburgh city centre. Due to a recent structure amendment, our client is urgently seeking a financial accountant to join the business on a 12-month FTC. The role will report into the head of finance and will be accountable for a team. This is a pivotal role within the organisation that will be involved in many projects.

The Responsibilities
The fundamental purpose of this role is to provide financial accounting and statutory reporting expertise. You will be managing the accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
One of the first projects that you will be involved in will be the designing and implementing an AP and AR function. At present the team function in an okay capacity, however we are wanting to build a process that is exceptional. This will probably involve identifying and exploiting key strengths and building upon weaknesses so that the team are a well-oiled and highly efficient function.
As well as projects you will be expected to complete business as usual tasks such as;
Completion of quarterly VAT returns,
Completion of financial/statutory reports,
Liaising with internal and external auditors to ensure a robust financial reporting function,
Review of business processes (in respect to financial reporting), to ensure efficiencies are maximised,

The Requirements
Our client is seeking a professionally qualified accountant - most likely to be ACCA, CA or CIPFA. We are seeking an individual who is keen to buy into the organisation and who will strive for the highest of standards at all time. The role holder will be a strong motivator and manager of people and be comfortable calling out for help when needed. Our client has a really practical and common-sense approach to systems experience and has suggested that good excel skills are essential, but what you don't know, google can teach you.

From a soft side of the environment, I spent a significant amount of time talking to our client about their culture. Whilst the job is being advertised as a 12 month contract, this is specifically due to a condition that they find themselves in. The role will more than likely be converted into a permanent role either within the 12 months or at the end of the contract.
