This position serves as assistant to the City Auditor, overseeing the efficient operation of the Accounting Division. Duties include, but are not limited to, supervising staff, initiating and approving banking transactions, reviewing monthly and quarterly financial statements, assisting in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), assisting in the budget process, preparing the quarterly financial statements of the Amarillo Hospital District, running daily job processes, and helping outside departments with accounting issues, as needed.

Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and a minimum of five years of experience in governmental accounting. Certified Public Accountant preferred. Personnel management experience preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required.
The City may consider any experience and education in determining an applicant's minimum qualification.
