Description SENIOR ASSOCIATE FORENSIC ACCOUNTANT SPECIALISING IN DISPUTES (SENIOR MANAGER/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR EQUIVALENT) - LONDON Purpose of the role: To assist the national Forensic and Accounting Services Team. You will be required to apply your accounting and forensic skills, taking day to day responsibility for managing our in house forensic accounting team's input on individual contentious matters. You will be part of multi-disciplinary teams advising clients on all types of disputes within the UK and globally including commercial disputes, post acquisition disputes, construction disputes, warranty claims, professional negligence claims and shareholder disputes. You will be advising clients on the quantum and financial aspects of disputes in connection with mediations and other dispute resolution forums, High Court proceedings and arbitrations. You will also be required to apply your accounting and forensic skills to advising on corporate transactions, business valuations, forensic intelligence gathering, asset tracing, business reviews and financial due diligence. Candidates are expected to have the skills of a qualified accountant with significant forensic experience specialising in disputes. Duties and

responsibilities:
Advising on quantum and commercial aspects of disputes including preparing detailed loss calculations (loss of profits, losses arising from breach of financial warranties, expectation losses, reliance losses, account of profits etc.) and business valuations Building the market presence and capability of the Forensic and Accounting Services team in particular in the area of disputes, litigation support and international arbitration Advising on technical accounting issues including in the context of post acquisition disputes and claims for breach of financial warranties Supporting our lawyers and clients in preparing for mediations and settlement negotiations and representing clients at mediations in relation to quantum position Advising on decision tree analysis Liaising with client's finance teams and interviewing key contacts to obtain relevant explanations, evidence and supporting documents in connection with claims Advising on drafting for preparing completion accounts, specific accounting policies, earn out mechanisms and financial warranties in sale and purchase agreements Drafting submissions to independent experts as part of expert determination processes Reviewing, analysing and verifying evidence for use in Court and Tribunal proceedings and mediations/settlement discussions Liaising with independent expert accountants and critiquing expert accountant reports Reporting on results of work undertaken and drafting correspondence, quantum reports, sections of pleadings and witness statements dealing with quantum and financial issues Supporting our lawyers and clients in preparing for Court proceedings and Tribunals Line management support, training and development of more junior team members Managing engagement economics Business development and marketing initiatives internally and externally Presenting on and giving training to lawyers and clients on technical accounting topics Qualifications: A relevant qualification in accountancy (such as ACA or ACCA) - 8-10 years PQE Education to degree standard (minimum 2(i) Hons) Relevant Experience: Forensic accounting experience in particular focusing on disputes, expert witness reports, expert determination processes, business valuations and mediations/dispute resolution procedures Experience of construction disputes Experience of international arbitration Providing pre completion advice for corporate transactions Business development and marketing initiatives Experience of clients operating in the energy, infrastructure, real estate, financial services and advanced manufacturing and technology sectors Key Skills / Personal Qualities / Behaviours: Confident, resilient, and enthusiastic Strong interpersonal skills Commercial awareness and knowledge of corporate activity and market trends An inquiring mind Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and establish credibility with colleagues and clients Takes responsibility and enjoys being challenged Good project management skills Ability to handle a demanding and varied workload Highly collaborative, a good team player and keen to contribute ideas Self motivated and possessing good time management skills Good communication and presentation skills both written and verbal Ability to build working relationships internally and externally Demonstrable ability to solve problems and think laterally Understanding of data analytics and associated technologies Ability to analyse and assimilate information quickly Analytical skills (high degree of competence with forensic technology) About the firm Pinsent Masons is an international law firm with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice rooted in its deep understanding of the sectors and geographies in which its clients operate.
