Financial Accountant role with an independent government agency based in East London. Fixed-term contract opportunity focussed on financial reporting and streamlining processes.

Description
As Financial Accountant your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering reconciliations and month end processes
- Coordinating with internal and external auditors
- Year end reporting and accounts preparation
- Managing the fixed asset register
- Ensuring that accounting policies and processes capture the changes to accounting standards (IFRS 16)
- Mentoring the two apprentices working in the Financial Accounting team
- Deputising for the Financial Accounting Manager as and when required
- Consistently seeking to improve and streamline processes
Profile
- Fully qualified accountant with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience
- Experience of working in a commercial or not-for-profit/public sector environment
- Demonstrable experience of working effectively to meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and changes to accounting standards
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
