Senior Finance Business Partner, Housing Accountant, HRA,

Senior Finance Business Partner opportunity with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council

Your new organisation

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Local Government Housing finance professional to join them in a newly created Senior Finance Business Partner role. Southend-on-Sea Borough Council employs around 1,700 staff, who work together to deliver a wide range of services that meet the needs of those who live, work and visit the area. The council provides a range of vital services at the heart of the community, as well as investing in exciting and ambitious projects that keep Southend-on-Sea firmly on the map. The Council is ambitious for the future and is working with local partners and local communities to ensure we deliver our exciting ambition for 2050.

Your new role

This is a newly created role, in recognition of the Council's accelerating housing ambitions. You will lead a small team proving a full range of finance business partner services to the Council's Housing Department and senior leadership, including Cabinet Members. You will co-ordinate all areas of Housing finance, including the HRA and the Council's Housing related companies and partnerships. You will develop and maintain modelling and forecasting tools to manage the Housing Revenue Account, as well assist in the delivery of the Councils aspirational housing ambitions.

What you will need to succeed

You must be a CCAB qualified accountant with extensive Local Government housing finance experience in both HRA and development. You should have demonstrable experience of working at a strategic level where you have supported large change projects, and have the gravitas to provide authoritive advice to staff and member on complex financial matters. This role will require you to be far more than a good accountant; you will be working hand in hand with housing and development colleagues to deliver the best outcomes within available resources, using creativity and insight as much as your given technical abilities.

What you'll get in return

This is an interim position, paying between £350 - £450 a day (dependent on experience) and will last approx 6 months
