Description

  • To provide effective and professional management of the organisation's finances to ensure that statutory obligations are met and that all programmes and development plans are fully and comprehensively supported through an accurate and solid financial foundation, to ensure the productivity and sustainability of the organisation.
  • To develop and ensure the maintenance of suitable and effective financial systems and procedures for the charity to meet the requirements of Companies House and the Charity Commission - particularly with regards to SORP2015, and take overall responsibility of the service delivered by the finance team.
  • To support and advise the Executive Officers and Trustees/Directors in strategic decision making through maintaining an up to date knowledge of the financial climate and developments within the sector and by providing timely and relevant financial information and projections.
  • Provide a compliance service to support all functions to comply with relevant laws and regulations and internal procedures.
  • To be in charge of implementing the financial strategy of the organisational Change Plan.
    • Play an active role, alongside SMT colleagues to lead the long term strategic direction of the organisation.

    • To take overall responsibility for the services delivered by the finance team, and to ensure appropriate, efficient and effective financial systems and controls are in place within the department and regional offices in order to minimise risk.

    • To manage the annual audit, including liaison with auditors and preparation of accounts.

    • Proactively review finance processes and controls necessary to ensure compliance with funders and statutory requirements and to safeguard the assets of the organisation.

    • Preparation of monthly management accounts which incorporate the performance of the organisation with quarterly reporting to the Board.

    • To support the senior management team in the analysis of monthly results and KPI's ensuring accurate and timely information is provided.

  • Provide line management to the Finance Team.

Profile

  • Fully qualified Accountant CIMA/ACCA/ACA.
  • Thorough and proven knowledge of legalities in financial management for both charity/company accounts. (desirable)
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience of working within a charity (desirable) with medium to large annual turnover
  • Proven ability to work confidently with complex systems
  • Proven ability to work in a calm and conscientious manner to conflicting deadlines
  • High level of IT literacy, in particular in regards to accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • At least five year's experience of team management
  • The flexibility to travel to overseas 1-2 times per year
  • Experience of accountability and reporting directly to Trustee/Director level

Job Offer

  • Basic salary of £45,000-£50,000 FTE
