Graduate Accountant Based in Southampton / Salisbury Competitive Salary Training & Study Support Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate, bright, articulate and ambitious and interested in pursuing a career in Accountancy? Would you be interested in gaining valuable hands on experience working for one of the UK's leading independently-owned financial services firms? Opportunities currently exist for high calibre graduates at the company's Southampton and Salisbury offices, within Private Client Tax and Assurance & Business Services (ABS). You would be joining as part of the company's highly regarded graduate programme, combining practical experience with technical studies, as well as providing opportunities to increase your skillset with internal and external courses hosted by experts in the field. Work could include... Preparation of tax returns for clients including sole traders, partners, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, non-UK domiciliaries and non-UK residents o Corresponding with HMRC regarding client's tax affairs, assisting with HMRC enquiries into client's tax returns o Undertaking a variety of audit and accountancy tasks, with a particular focus on auditing pension schemes o Completing audit programmes and forming conclusions on each individual test and section completed You will train with and learn from an experienced team who will provide on-the-job mentoring while at the same time studying towards becoming a Chartered Accountant (ACA) / Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA). You will receive extensive support to ensure your professional development and genuine opportunities for progression. Your knowledge and skills will be applied to key issues that clients face, giving many opportunities for your career to develop within the firm. Academic requirements... o Must have or be on course for at least a 2:1 honours degree in any discipline o 300 UCAS points (or equivalent) in your top three A-levels (excluding General Studies) o GCSE English and maths (or equivalent) at a minimum of grade B Progression is fast, with responsibility from an early stage. By the second year you'll be taking on a more senior role and helping to supervise the new intake of trainees and as your experience grows, you may have opportunities to experience other more complex or high-profile assignments.
