About the role
CE Group has gone through a large period of growth and is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to support this by ensuring we deliver consistency in service delivery to our most valuable asset - our people.
This is a hands-on, full-scope role that will deliver end to end ownership of our complex and growing payroll function.
This is an office-based role and will join an established finance and HR team. Our successful candidate will own the leadership of the payroll function with key tasks involving:

About the role
CE Group has gone through a large period of growth and is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to support this by ensuring we deliver consistency in service delivery to our most valuable asset - our people.
This is a hands-on, full-scope role that will deliver end to end ownership of our complex and growing payroll function.
This is an office-based role and will join an established finance and HR team. Our successful candidate will own the leadership of the payroll function with key tasks involving:
- Overseeing the end-to-end weekly payroll processing for approximately 200 company staff, with a projected increase to 300 in the coming 12 months.
- Preparation of PAYG, Payroll Tax, WorkCover, Portable Redundancy Fund, Long Service Leave, and Superannuation returns and payments.
- The ability to interpret complex awards and EBAs.
- Calculation and processing of termination payments
- Management of payroll-based adjustments such as back pays, WorkCover, and taxation requirements
- End of month and End of Financial Year processing
- Execution of a regular internal audit schedule
- Full T&A and Payroll System maintenance and administration
- Senior stakeholder engagement and consistent employee contact.
- Providing accurate information in response to employee queries.
About you
You are a professional who has proven experience in a similar and autonomous payroll position along with the following skills and attributes:
- More than 5 years experience of end-to-end weekly payroll processing (in-house) (experience using COINS preferred, ADP, Kronos, or similar desirable)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven process improvement initiatives.
- The ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.
- Extensive and current knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance including payroll, tax, PAYG, workers' compensation, FBT, terminations & STP reporting.
- Experience with and are comfortable interpreting multiple Awards/EBA's/Employment contracts.
- Scheduled and adhoc payroll reporting experience.
- Can work to resolve queries relating to payroll across the organisation.
- Can be relied upon to treat the payroll function with confidentiality.
- Can work collaboratively with teams across the business including Finance and Operations.
