Exciting Opportunity: Commercial Administrator for Leading Surface Infrastructure Specialist

Our client is a renowned expert in the restoration, maintenance, and extension of surface infrastructure, working in highly sensitive operational environments, including airports and defence. Due to their ongoing success, they are seeking a dynamic Commercial Administrator to join their commercial team.

Role Overview

As a Commercial Administrator, you will seamlessly integrate into our Commercial Team, taking charge of key administrative duties and supporting the team's overall operations. The role encompasses a variety of tasks designed to maintain and enhance our commercial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Payments
  • Manage day-to-day procurement needs and assist with long-lead item procurement.
  • Accurately compile and manage subcontractor orders and interim payment applications.
  • Ensure timely receipt of supply chain applications and documentation for efficient processing.

Cost Control & Budget Management
  • Regularly review actual resources used in production (e.g., labour and plant) against the budget to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct material reconciliations to monitor usage against project design and budget.
  • Support the Commercial Team with cost capturing and administration of commercial accounting systems.

Subcontractor Management
  • Maintain and update subcontractor Quality Assurance (Q.A.) documentation.
  • Ensure accurate re-measurement of works to monitor value and report on deviations.
  • Review and validate weekly allocation sheets, labour-only payments, and subcontractor accounts.

Performance Reporting & System Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and improve internal systems and procedures.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Qualified to GCSE level including Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent qualification)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with IT and systems, including MS Office and commercial accounting software

Desirable (but not essential) Attributes
  • Experience with COINS ERP Software
  • Industry knowledge and commercial awareness
  • A qualification in Business Administration, Accounts, or a similar field
