We are seeking a Payroll Manager to assist with the management of our Payroll function, particularly to facilitate a smooth transition to a new software system. This role is crucial for ensuring data integrity and accuracy during the integration with our new Payroll and HR system. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Finance and play a key role in maintaining our payroll systems' efficiency and reliability.
Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work closely with the People and Payroll Systems Project Manager to integrate a new Payroll and HR system, ensuring accurate data transfer within project timelines.
  • Support in testing the payroll functionalities of the new system and defining specifications.
  • Manage the accuracy of data within the Unit 4 Payroll system, resolving issues and implementing measures to prevent future discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with pension schemes including TPS, LGPS, and Peoples’ Pension Fund.
  • Conduct data cleansing for all pension schemes in preparation for the new Payroll system transition.
  • Handle monthly and annual reconciliations and submissions for various pension schemes.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, including RTI and year-end returns.
  • Liaise with the Finance department to ensure accurate monthly reconciliations for reporting and budgetary control.
  • Manage and provide direction to two payroll officers, overseeing their work and conducting regular meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Manager or Supervisor.
  • Relevant Payroll qualifications.
  • Strong technical expertise with TPS, LGPS, and other pension schemes- Essential
  • Previous experience in Further Education is desirable.
  • Excellent IT and systems knowledge, preferably with experience in Agresso (Unit 4) or similar systems.
  • GCSE / Level 2 equivalent in Maths & English.
