ALLEGANY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
ACCOUNTANT I
FULL STATE OF MARYLAND BENEFITS
LOCATION: Administration
NATURE OF WORK:This position manages all fiscal aspects of health department grants, including tracking employee time and costs for materials and supplies, analyzing expenditure reports, preparing journal entries, and completing/submitting required financial reports according to grant guidelines. This position will provide statistical analysis of data and monitor progress toward goals and objectives of the various grants. This position will be responsible for examining, analyzing, and interpreting fiscal reports in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to assist with daily health department functions. This position will complete training and knowledge of eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (EMMA) for completing/posting requests for proposals and future grant proposals. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.
Experience: One year of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing, for the required education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with grants and budgets.
Strong computer skills.
Organization and bookkeeping skills.
SALARY: $57,275/year; full State of Maryland benefits
HOURS: Full-time day shift; no weekend work.
