Introduction

Under the direction of the Group Tax Manager, the Group Tax Accountant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with SA and International tax legislations, as well as ensuring the integrity of the Group's tax GL accounts in line with supporting Revenue Authority's documents.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Submit VAT returns and ensure that payments are made timeously
  • Submit provisional Tax returns and ensure that payments are made timeously
  • Submit Sugar Beverage Levy returns and ensure payments are made timeously
  • Submit withholding taxes timeously
  • Submit annual income tax returns timeously
  • Assist with compilation of responses to SARS queries and audits
  • Provide Financial Managers with correct Ledger codes and ensure that payments have been allocated accordingly
  • Check SARS correspondence regularly and assist with preparation of SARS responses
  • Obtain Tax Compliance Status(TCS) from SARS and determine non-compliance
  • Reconcile Tax liability and VAT accounts in the Ledger with SARS statements
  • Maintain the General Ledger for current and deferred Tax accounts. This includes preparing journal entries, accounts analysis and reconciliation and closing books monthly
  • Assist External Auditors at Year-End including preparation of schedules, providing supporting documentation and explaining procedures
  • Ensure statutory compliance throughout Famous Brands Group in respect of all Taxes
  • To review the Tax Asset Register to ensure correct treatment of assets purchases, disposals, scrapping and expensing
  • Recording and safe keeping of documentation
  • Assist with accurate forecasts (budgets / profit forecasts, performance outlook and cash forecasts) across the Group
  • To keep abreast with tax changes
  • Perform ad-hoc projects for specific companies

Desired Experience & Qualification

Formal Education

B. Com Accounting Degree or B. Tech Accounting (Required)

Post Graduate Tax Honours / Diploma (Advantageous)

Experience

Experience with filing of returns and liaison with SARS
