Job Overview
As the In-House Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations, with a primary focus on inventory management. You will work closely with accounting to ensure the accurate recording, reporting, and valuation of inventory. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and a deep familiarity within the food production industry.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Oversee the tracking, valuation, and reconciliation of inventory, including raw materials (poultry, beef, and pork) and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by ensuring proper documentation of all stock movements (purchases, transfers, consumption, and sales).
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare regular inventory reports, highlighting any trends, discrepancies, and areas for cost reduction or improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Provide detailed inventory analysis to support pricing strategies, profitability analysis, and budget planning.
Compliance & Audits:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies regarding inventory management.
- Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits, particularly focusing on inventory controls and financial accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Minimum of [5] years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least [3] years of inventory management experience, preferably within the food industry.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control systems and processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
