Job Description
One of our clients who operates in the investments sector, is looking for an Accountant within their Post Investment Monitoring team. You would need strong communication skills, have excellent knowledge of accounting principles, and solid recons experience. Ideally, someone with a fund accounting background who is highly methodical with a strong interest in portfolio administration. If this sounds like your next career move, please give me a shout!

Responsibilities:
  • Reconciliation of assets and liabilities: reconciliation of accounting and loan system to ensure assets and liabilities match
  • Covenant tracking: design a system to track covenants on loans made including (amongst others), identification of covenant requirements, monthly reporting on status of covenants, preparation of quarterly covenant reporting pack to Investment Committee
  • Investor administration: review FICA documentation obtained for new investors, assist with investor administration requirements, processing transactions in the loan administration system (contributions, surrenders, broker commissions, adjustments)
  • Loan administration: Assist with borrower queries/reconciliations on an ad hoc basis
  • Accounting / management accounting: balance sheet reconciliations, processing of journal entries

Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with a strong focus on commerce (BCom Accounting, Finance, Investments)
  • 2-5 years in a Fund Accounting position gained in fund services / asset management
  • Relevant exposure to investment reporting systems, strong reconciliation skills, rely on a working knowledge of business accounting (preferably Xero) and fund accounting
  • Understand unlisted loans, ability to read and interpret key financial statements: balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements and calculate key financial ratios tied to covenants
  • Understanding FICA requirements in relation to new and current investors
