Introduction
The client, a well-established coal and anthracite mine in KZN is seeking to employ a Senior Financial Manager who will effectively manage the total scope of the Finance, Stores, Procurement and IT departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Account for all financial transactions;
- Preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and month-to-month forecasts;
- Financial modelling, feasibility studies and cost accounting;
- Cost control, working cost, capital expenditure, major repairs, labour cost - ongoing cost reporting;
- Cash flow control: working capital, consumable stores, debtors, creditors, transfer money between current and call account;
- Manage and report on risk, assurance management and any ad hoc financial projects;
- Prepare statutory annual financial statements;
- Prepare operational and risk reports for management analysis;
- Filing of all tax submissions, including PAYE, VAT, Royalty, diesel and Income Tax;
- Responsible for Financial, Accounting and Compliance functions incuding payrolls, cash flow
management, financial reporting (internal and external) within agreed reporting deadlines;
- Manage control over buying stores, issuing from stores, creditors reconciliations, bank reconciliations and payments, monthly sales reports, credit notes, stock take, etc.;
- Responsible to maintain and improve internal controls;
- Maintaining General Ledger on Accpac;
- Financial reporter - Accpa - new reports and maintaining existing reports;
- Monthly standard journals on general ledger;
- Manage Fixed Assets - Capex (CWIP), transfer to fixed assets, depreciaton, disposals;
- Co-ordinate and manage external auditors in respect of annual local audit obligations.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant post grade 12 qualification, preferably B Comm with completed articles;
- 10 Year's general experience post B Com (similar) of which five years at Management/senior level in the mining industry.
- Good working knowledge of financial accounting standars and IFRS;
- In-depth knowledge of relevant industry statutory tax and legal regulations;
- Experience in expansion of mining projects;
- Computer literacy (MS Office) and exceptional Word, Excel and Power Point skills. AccPac (SAGE)
knowledge would be an advantage.
- The successful candidate will be required to work at the office, based on the mine and pro-actively
participate as a member of the Management Team.
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a medical/fitness test.
