About the Role
Our client, a well-established online retailer of computer hardware components, is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join their growing team based in Somerset West.

This position involves performing a range of administrative and accounting tasks, including data entry, transaction processing, ledger updates, and assisting with audits. You will also handle vendor communications, prepare financial reports, and provide support for the departments operations.

This role requires someone who is efficient, thorough, and organised, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively. While experience in accounting is advantageous, our client values attitude and a willingness to learn above all else.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the Accounting/Finance Department.
  • Perform basic office tasks, such as filing, scanning, data entry, answering phones, processing mail (physical and electronic), document shredding, and office procurement.
  • Handle communications with vendors via phone, email, and in person.
  • Process transactions and update ledgers.
  • Prepare basic financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Assist with queries, audits, fact-checking, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the team.

Skills and Attributes Required
  • Proficiency in IT, especially MS Office; experience with accounting software is advantageous.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong typing and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Good organisational, record-keeping, and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, stay motivated, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Professionalism, honesty, integrity, and a strong ethical code.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles is beneficial for growth within the role.
