Partnering exclusively with Sheridan Maine, this acquisitive SME has ambitious plans to increase their turnover by up to 50% over the next three years. You will be part of a capable and friendly team who take pride in their business. The role will be based predominantly at their South Birmingham/North Worcestershire HQ with travel at least weekly to other locations in the Birmingham area. A pool car is provided for travel between sites, a car driver is required for this reason. The role leads a team of 3, and you will enjoy the opportunity to improve systems and processes, with the aim of making finance scalable within a growing SME.Your responsibilities as the Financial Controller will include:
- Oversee the finance function and daily operations of the finance team
- Provide strategic financial support to the Board for decision-making and business planning
- Serve as the key communication link between finance, the Board, and the wider company
- Lead the annual strategic planning and forecasting, setting financial targets to manage performance
- Manage the financial accounting system and processes
- Oversee month-end accounts preparation, executive report packs, and improve the costing model
- Review management accounts and balance sheets, investigating variances with the Senior Management Team
- Provide monthly performance analysis to support business goals
- Manage the year-end process and take responsibility for balance sheet and reconciliations
- Accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, or ACCA) or qualified by experience (QBE) with relevant background
- Experience in the SME sector
- Strong ability to business partner with senior stakeholdersProficient in IT, including Microsoft Office applications
- Solid background in financial control and process improvement, with a strong understanding of technical accounting
