Introduction
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will be responsible for managing loan portfolios and performing a variety of accounting functions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for numbers and a strong understanding of loan and leasing calculations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate calculations for loan drawdowns, repayments, interest on arrears, and amortizations.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations related to customer accounts.
• Generate invoices and credit notes; allocate customer payments and reconcile loans.
• Manage payment reminders, debit orders, and handle unpaid obligations.
• Resolve customer queries and work closely with internal legal teams on defaulting customers.
• Conduct accounting tasks such as preparing journals, VAT calculations, reconciliations, and balancing intercompany loan accounts.
• Manage cash flow and perform daily bank reconciliations.
• Assist with audit preparations and liaise with auditors.
• Handle ad hoc financial and administrative tasks as needed.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with Accounting as a major and Finance as a subject, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with loan calculations, leasing, amortizations, and NPV concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Xero, Microsoft Teams, and Standard Bank Business Online (an advantage).
• Strong Excel skills (above average).
• Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented.
