We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will be responsible for managing loan portfolios and performing a variety of accounting functions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for numbers and a strong understanding of loan and leasing calculations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate calculations for loan drawdowns, repayments, interest on arrears, and amortizations.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations related to customer accounts.
- Generate invoices and credit notes; allocate customer payments and reconcile loans.
- Manage payment reminders, debit orders, and handle unpaid obligations.
- Resolve customer queries and work closely with internal legal teams on defaulting customers.
- Conduct accounting tasks such as preparing journals, VAT calculations, reconciliations, and balancing intercompany loan accounts.
- Manage cash flow and perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Assist with audit preparations and liaise with auditors.
- Handle ad hoc financial and administrative tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with Accounting as a major and Finance as a subject, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience with loan calculations, leasing, amortizations, and NPV concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Xero, Microsoft Teams, and Standard Bank Business Online (an advantage).
- Strong Excel skills (above average).
- Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented.
