What's it all about?
Conveniently located in our Sydney Branch at Northmead we are looking for a person to work in our Head Office Finance Team reporting to our Financial Controller looking after our Australia and New Zealand payroll as well as assisting in general administration duties. We are currently using Micropay payroll system and Mitrefinch TMS but we are transitioning to Definitiv over the course of 2025.
Experience with Micropay is preferred but not essential.
You'll be:
- Responsible for end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing for Australia & NZ Payrolls using Micropay in concert with Mitrefinch TMS for approximately 200 staff. (Australia week one and New Zealand week two).
- Ensuring the integrity and maintenance of payroll system data (e.g., ensuring employee details are accurately input and maintained) and time attendance system.
- Maintain accurate record keeping of pay records, banking details, overtime, Tax File Number Declarations, timesheets, leave records, and other related information.
- Manage and ensure the accuracy of termination payments and calculation of leave payments (annual leave, LSL).
- Support the monthly and year end preparation, balancing, and reconciliation of the following: payroll tax, PAYG tax, superannuation contributions, workers compensation premiums, and authorised payroll deductions.
- Managing & responding to any payroll / superannuation queries.
- Monitoring and adhering to changes to payroll statutory requirements and communicating accordingly.
- Assist with other payroll/HR admin tasks as required.
- Act as support for any projects involving the Payroll function.
- Processing of weekly EFT supplier payments and ad hoc credit card payments.
- Timely processing of international freight invoices & final shipment costs.
- Assist with vendor invoice processing for noncore purchases.
- Assist with other general AP/Admin tasks as required.
We'll provide training and guidance, and you'll develop an extensive and impressive set of skills working with us.
What will you need to do the role?
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- At least two years of end-to-end payroll processing experience.
- Proficiency with Micropay and Mitrefinch TMS (preferred but not essential), along with strong Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office knowledge.
- A strong understanding of current legislative requirements, including tax legislation, long service leave legislation across major states, the General Retail Award, Single Touch Payroll, and superannuation.
- A high attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Be proactive, flexible approach, and the ability to communicate and engage professionally with stakeholders. A positive attitude with an open and collaborative approach is essential.
