About the Role:

We are currently partnering with a well-established organisation to find an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a payroll professional to oversee the delivery of accurate and timely payroll processing for approximately 750 employees, across multiple pay cycles. You'll be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring compliance, and working alongside HR, Finance, and other key stakeholders to drive efficiencies and continuous improvements in payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the processing of Weekly, Fortnightly, and Monthly payrolls for a large and diverse employee base.
  • Interpret and apply relevant Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements to ensure compliance and accuracy in pay calculations.
  • Manage the allocation of payroll tasks and ensure all deadlines are consistently met.
  • Administer superannuation contributions and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and enterprise agreements.
  • Oversee the processing and payment of workers' compensation claims.
  • Handle termination calculations and ensure timely preparation of termination statements in line with employee consultation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll-related processes, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing accurate payroll data as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Long Service Leave regulations across various states.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to any payroll-related queries.
  • Perform general administrative duties as required.
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a payroll officer role, with a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements to payroll operations.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, GL reporting, STP (Single Touch Payroll), superannuation, terminations, and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent numerical and data analysis skills, with the ability to provide insights and solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering continuous improvement initiatives within payroll functions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with SharePoint.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, Site Managers) and external partners (government agencies, auditors).
