Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying potential risks and assessing their impacts on the organization.
- Creating and implementing a comprehensive risk framework.
- Enabling the organization to achieve strategic objectives with a risk-intelligent approach.
- Advising senior management in decision-making processes.
- Streamlining and creating audit processes.
- Developing and maintaining risk plans.
- Enhancing governance and internal controls.
- Overseeing Legal, Policy, Risk, Compliance, and Ethics functions.
- Managing a team of risk management professionals.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications and Professional Certification
- A legal degree (LLB, LLM, or similar) is essential.
- Advanced qualifications in Data Privacy and Cyber Security Risk Management
Experience
- At least 8 years' experience in a Senior Risk and Compliance Leadership role, preferably within the Financial Services Sector or within one of the major Consulting/Auditing Firms.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of sound legal, risk and compliance practices including corporate performance reporting.
- Sound knowledge and experience in all relevant legislative requirements relates to the role including POPIA and Data Processing requirements.
- Critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- High degree of transparency and integrity is essential in this role.
- Excellent analytical thinking capabilities in complex situations.
- Well-developed influencing skills across levels in the organisation, to allow for effective direction of the Company's risk and compliance affairs.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Proven leadership of small to medium-sized teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective networking capabilities.
- A contemporary and balanced approach to risk management
