Senior Accountant - Automotive Industry
Location: Southern Gold Coast

About the Role

As the Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the organisation's financial health. Reporting directly to the Dealer Principal, you will manage the day-to-day accounting operations while contributing to strategic financial planning and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead month-end and year-end financial processes, including preparing accurate financial statements.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to provide insightful recommendations to the Dealer Principal.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Perform reconciliations of accounts, bank statements, and intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Assist in financial audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and a hands-on approach to financial management.

Key Attributes:
  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CA qualification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a similar senior accounting role, ideally in the automotive or retail industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
