Introduction
Our client is urgently looking for the expertise of a Senior Accountant with experience working within an Accounting Firm environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Statutory Compliance:
Manage and ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including:
• PAYE submissions and reconciliations.
• VAT calculations, submissions, and audits and reconciliations.
• Income tax compliance and returns for individuals and companies.
• Workmen's Compensation submissions and renewals.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to resolve compliance-related queries.
Financial Management:
• Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
• Manage general ledger reconciliations and month-end closing processes.
Tax Planning and Advisory:
• Provide insights and strategies to optimize tax liabilities.
• Support the preparation for audits and liaise with auditors.
Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare detailed financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
• Provide recommendations for improving financial performance.
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, auditors, and tax advisors.
• Act as a trusted advisor for clients, offering guidance on financial best practices.
Team Leadership:
• Supervise and mentor finance staff.
• Review work for accuracy and compliance.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years in a similar role, ideally within an accounting firm environment.
• Proven experience in statutory submissions, tax planning, and compliance.
Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of financial management, reporting, and compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or Pastel)
• Advance excel skills
Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Attributes
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development.
