Your Purpose:

As a Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large workforce. Beyond payroll management, you will provide essential HR support, ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, and contribute to the organization's operational efficiency by delivering insightful reporting and effective collaboration.

Your Responsibilities:

In this role, you will oversee payroll for 5,000-7,000 employees, ensuring precise and timely salary payments. You will handle payroll-related activities such as processing bonuses, overtime, and deductions, reconciling payroll data, and generating reports. Compliance is a key part of your role, managing submissions to SARS (including EMP501 and WCA returns) and ensuring adherence to immigration and labor laws for expatriate payrolls. You will address employee queries related to taxes, payroll, benefits, and maintain accurate employee records in both electronic and physical formats. You will assist employees with UIF claims, tax documents, and employment confirmations while providing HR reporting and analysis to aid management decisions. Managing relationships with third-party providers, collaborating with auditors, and liaising with the finance team on payroll journal queries will also fall within your purview. Additionally, you will maintain the payroll system, ensuring legislative compliance, support monthly payroll runs, process final settlements for exiting employees, and handle Sage 300 Job Costing-related operations.

What's Required:

You will need a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Finance, or a related field, alongside proven experience in payroll processing, particularly for large employee bases. Proficiency in Sage 300, including Job Costing functionality, is essential, as is a strong understanding of South African payroll legislation and SARS compliance. Experience in HR administration, exceptional analytical skills for reconciling data and generating actionable reports, and a meticulous approach to payroll operations are all key. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to collaborate with stakeholders and address employee inquiries effectively.
