Job Description
Financial Director
Sunninghill, Sandton
Remuneration R1,000,000 annual CTC negotiable

Our client, a leading company in the Health and Wellness Distribution industry with an annual turnover of approximately R200 million, is seeking an experienced Financial Director to join their executive team. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and drive financial strategy, with a planned handover period for a smooth transition. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial leadership, preferably with a CA qualification, and strong skills in financial systems (Pastel Evolution).

Handover Period: 3-6 months with current Financial Director (due to retirement)

Qualifications and Experience
  • CA qualification highly desirable
  • Extensive experience in financial leadership within a high-turnover environment
  • Proficiency in Pastel Evolution


Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy and Planning
  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning efforts.
  • Provide strategic insights to support executive decision-making.

2. Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows.
  • Analyze financial performance and advise on trends, risks, and opportunities.

3. Cash Flow and Capital Management
  • Oversee cash flow to maintain operational liquidity.
  • Manage working capital, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.
  • Make decisions regarding financing, investments, and capital expenditures.

4. Cost Control and Profitability
  • Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Ensure pricing aligns with financial goals and market conditions to drive profitability.

5. Risk Management and Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Manage internal audits and risk management to safeguard company assets.
  • Handle insurance and financial risk mitigation strategies.

6. Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Communicate financial objectives to stakeholders, including investors and board members.

7. Financial Systems and Process Improvement
  • Oversee ERP system implementation and optimization for financial accuracy.
  • Maintain robust cost accounting and inventory valuation systems.

8. Investment and Expansion Decisions
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, and new ventures.
  • Offer financial guidance on market expansion and product development.

9. Tax Planning and Strategy
  • Optimize tax planning and minimize liabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.

10. Liaison with Key Functions
  • Oversee payroll, Discovery scheme, and provident fund management.
