Introduction
Are you an expert in international tax laws and IFRS, ready to lead a dynamic team in a global finance environment? We're seeking a strategic and seasoned Head of Tax to join our Finance organization, reporting directly to the VP: Accounting and Control. In this pivotal role, you'll shape and oversee our global tax strategy, ensuring strict compliance while optimizing tax efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Develop and Implement Global Tax Strategy
Design and execute a global tax strategy that aligns with corporate objectives, including regular assessments to enhance efficiency
Advise senior management on tax implications for major business decisions
2. Ensure Compliance with Tax Regulations:
Ensure full compliance with tax laws across all operating regions
Oversee the preparation, filing, and timely submission of tax returns, coordinating with external advisors and tax authorities to resolve audits and disputes
3. Manage Tax Risks:
Identify and mitigate tax risks, including those related to transfer pricing, BEPS, and potential disputes
Establish and maintain robust tax risk management policies across the organization
4. Provide Strategic Tax Advice:
Offer expert tax guidance to support various business units, particularly for new projects and acquisitions
5. Lead the Tax Team:
Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, promoting their development and ensuring high performance
6. Stay Current on Tax Developments:
Keep up with changes in domestic and international tax laws, trends, and best practices to anticipate potential impacts

Desired Experience & Qualification
- Advanced degree in taxation, accounting, or law
- At least 10 years of tax experience in a multinational setting
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and its relevance to tax accounting, plus a history of handling complex tax issues
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with experience managing tax audits, litigation, and transfer pricing in Africa
Additional Skills and Competencies:
- Familiarity with tax technology and software, VAT, customs duties, BEPS initiatives, Pillar 2, and CBCR
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with tax authorities and advisors
