About the client

The Management Recruitment Group is seeking an Interim Head of Treasury and Investment for a local authority in London.

Accountabilities

• Provide leadership to this authority’s treasury and investment team
• Development of an investment and acquisition strategy
• Provide advice to the Council’s treasury investment and debt portfolios
• Provide financial and treasury advice to stakeholders
• Delivery treasury management operations in compliance with CIPFA Code of Practice for Treasury Management in Local Authorities
• Lead of the formulation, implementation of the Council’s investment strategy
• Oversee year end processes and ensure compliance as required
• Review the Council’s treasury management policies and statutory requirements

Candidate Requirements

• Full membership of a professional finance and accounting body such as ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS
• Background leading treasury and investment teams within local government
• Experience with treasury management practices and CIPFA recommended strategies
• Understanding of the Local Government Act 1972, Section 151
• Experience delivering investment strategies across large investment portfolio’s
• Proven experience in a similar position
