Job Summary
The Management Accountant will report directly to the Deputy COFA/Financial Controller, supporting the efficient functioning of the finance team. This role involves close collaboration with the outsourced Legal Cashiering, Management Accounting, and Payroll teams. This is a dynamic position that requires delivering timely and accurate information while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and meeting strict deadlines.

Experience
The Management Accountant will report directly to the Deputy COFA/Financial Controller, supporting the efficient functioning of the finance team. This role involves close collaboration with the outsourced Legal Cashiering, Management Accounting, and Payroll teams. This is a dynamic position that requires delivering timely and accurate information while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and meeting strict deadlines.
Duties
- Ensure accounting records are maintained in compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, prepayments, accruals, deferred income journals, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Manage payroll and pension administration, working in conjunction with the HR manager and an outsourced payroll provider.
- Provide timely and insightful financial reports and analyses to support decision-making processes.
- Review and approve quarterly VAT returns, ensuring timely payment to HMRC.
- Prepare accurate year-end account information to facilitate the preparation of annual statutory accounts by an external accountant.
- Serve as the main point of contact for external accountants, particularly concerning the Solicitors Accounts Rules audit.
- Oversee regular cash flow management.
- Assist with budgeting and variance analysis.
- Supervise and support the outsourced Cashiers team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in service delivery.
- Maintain a flexible approach, taking on additional duties as required to support the smooth operation of the department.
Experience
- Solid understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and their application
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Capable of working autonomously, using initiative with minimal supervision
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
