Robert half is working with a global business to recruit for a Financial Accountant. This position is ideal for someone already working within industry or for a candidate eager to transition from a practice background to an industry setting. The role involves providing specialised technical accounting expertise, along with supporting the leadership in managing a team responsible for the delivery of statutory accounts, audit reporting, and addressing technical accounting queries, including changes to accounting policies and IFRS standards.
This role offers a competitive salary of £45k - £50k, Hybrid working (2 days in the office, 3 days from home), 25 days annual leave (in addition to bank holidays), as well as excellent benefits and significant opportunities for professional growth. Key
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical accounting advice across the business, ensuring robust application of IFRS and Group accounting policies. This includes addressing accounting queries, challenging existing accounting practices, and preparing technical papers as necessary to support audit processes.
- Review and assess the impact of new accounting standards, determining the approach to adoption, addressing any training requirements, and ensuring adherence to current accounting policies within the Unit.
- Undertake a variety of technical financial projects, such as balance sheet reconciliation improvements, production of completion accounts, and enhancement of internal controls, processes, and procedures.
- Support and oversee the External Financial Reporting team, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of statutory accounts and high-quality external reporting within statutory deadlines.
- Maintain a strong working relationship with external auditors, ensuring that all audit requirements, including quarterly, interim, and annual audits, are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Produce sector-specific regulatory reports, including submissions to the Cabinet Office, Office of National Statistics, and pension reporting.
- Assist in the thorough review of journal entries, ensuring data accuracy prior to the commencement of audit processes.
- Manage the planning and execution of the liquidation process for surplus entities within the Business Unit, ensuring compliance with UK law and UK GAAP.
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS)
- Strong technical expertise in IFRS and accounting standards
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
