About the role

We are looking for a financial expert to help our executive team effectively manage the company's financial resources, ensure compliance with hospitality regulations and industry standards, and provide strategic guidance to support the company's growth and profitability. Success in this role will include:
  • Effective financial management - The ability to manage the company's finances in a way that ensures financial stability and growth while also minimizing risk.
  • Accurate financial reporting - The ability to produce accurate and timely financial reports, including financial statements, budget forecasts, and cash flow reports.
  • Strong financial controls - The implementation of strong financial controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard against fraud or mismanagement.
  • Efficient processes - The implementation of efficient financial processes that improve the speed and accuracy of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Effective team management - The ability to build and manage a high-performing, physical and virtual finance team (in-house and contracted) focused on achieving the company's financial goals and objectives.
  • Collaboration with other departments - The ability to work collaboratively with other departments to develop and implement strategies that support the company's overall success.
  • Improved financial performance - The ability to improve the company's financial performance by increasing revenue, reducing costs, and maximizing profitability.
  • Innovation and continuous improvement - The ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting to stay ahead of industry trends and best practices.

Key skills our ideal candidate will have
  • Accounting expertise - Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, including financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analytical skills - The ability to analyze financial data and interpret trends, identify areas of risk and opportunity, and develop strategies to improve financial performance.
  • Communication skills - Effective communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Industry knowledge - A strong understanding of the hospitality industry, including trends, regulations, and market dynamics, would be beneficial.
  • Problem-solving skills - The ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions to resolve financial issues that arise.
  • Attention to detail - The ability to pay close attention to details and maintain high accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Technical expertise - Strong technical skills in accounting software and other financial tools.
  • Strategic thinking - The ability to think strategically and develop long-term financial plans that align with the company's goals and objectives.

Experience candidates will need to smash this role
  • Financial management experience - Must have extensive experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Leadership experience - Must have strong leadership experience to effectively lead and manage the finance team. Must be able to provide strategic direction, delegate tasks, set goals and objectives, and provide guidance and support to team members.
  • Hospitality industry experience - Ideally, have experience managing a Hospitality Group and/or have a deep understanding of the hospitality industry and the dynamics of the sector, such as seasonality, supply chain, and customer preferences.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards - Ideally, have a strong understanding of the regulatory framework governing the hospitality industry, including financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.

Qualifications, licenses, or other requirements
  • Must hold one of the following professional qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
