Role: Chief Accountant

I am currently assisting one of my local authority clients in the South-West of England who are looking for an interim Chief Accountant to join the team.



Responsibilities:

• Leading on the annual co-ordinating and closure of the Council’s Accounts
• Co-ordinating and publishing a closing timetable promoting earlier close in line with proposed Government legislative timetable
• Providing technical expertise and advice to Senior Officers and Members when required
• Supporting and advising on MTFS and the preparation of Revenue and Capital Budgets
• Continuously reviewing the quality of service deliver and promoting good accounting practice across the Council

Person Specification:

• Fully CCAB or CIPFA qualified
• Specialist technical knowledge of year end/closedown in a local authority setting.
• Recent local authority experience
• Technical accounting knowledge
