Introduction
Regional NGO working in education development has a vacancy for a Bookkeeper on an ongoing re-newable 6-month fixed term contract.
The position offers a salary dependent on skills and experience which is inclusive of provident fund. Medical Aid is optional.
Membership to the provident fund with Momentum is compulsory. Salary package includes 100% contribution to the provident fund. You have a choice to contribute 5%, 10% or 15% towards the provident fund.
Discovery Health and Bonitas Medical Aid schemes. Contribution to one of these medical aid schemes is optional. Should you opt to select one of the offered medical aid schemes, your cost to company salary includes 100% medical aid contribution.
Benefits from day one even though the position is a contract.
Hours 8am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday with 30minutes for lunch.

Responsibilities
- Full creditors' and debtors' functions, including monthly reconciliations
- Journal capturing
- Cashbook capturing
- Administering staff claims system, ensuring various deadlines are adhered to, that calculations are accurate, and claims are correctly processed
- Staff travel and advance account reconciliation
- Liaising with external suppliers
- Checking purchasing procedures from receipt of quotes
- Processing purchase notes as well as receipt of delivery notes and invoices
- Processing payments
- Assisting senior bookkeeper/s with outstanding orders and follow-ups, and funder financial reports
- Maintaining staff advance files reflecting all movements accurately so that each staff member's file is an accurate, complete, and correct record at all times
- Ensuring all filing is kept up to date in a systematic manner
- Maintaining a file of invoices of capital expenditure
- Ad hoc support to the finance department and other tasks as and when required
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification in accounting, bookkeeping or related field
- Three years bookkeeping experience
- Experience with Pastel Accounting (including troubleshooting) will be advantageous
- Basic knowledge of SARS statutory returns compliance
