Introduction
Reporting to the National AR Manager and indirectly to the National Operations Director and CEO. The Accounts Receivable Controller is responsible for tracking revenue and ensuring payments are received and accurately recorded.
Duties & Responsibilities
To efficiently measure and manage the receipts owed to a company by their customers, must perform a wide range of job duties and responsibilities. These may include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing the Full Accounts Receivable function of the company
  • Over 2 000 active clients and a Debtors book averaging R50 million at any given time
  • Reconciliation of customer accounts to statements as well as providing guidance to the team should the require this
  • Performing daily financial transactions such as verifying, calculating, and posting accounts receivable data
  • This will include the approval of customer discounts & rebates as well as the reviewing of all account adjustments
  • Working closely with Sales Manager & Sales Representatives
  • This includes but is not limited to releasing of orders, concerns on overdue accounts, placing accounts on hold, collecting outstanding monies and resolving of customer queries
  • Escalation of problem accounts to the National Operations Director Supporting the month end process
  • Generating receivables' reports Communication of process to be undertaken for bad debts
Desired Experience & Qualification
Non-negotiable
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in credit and collections
  • Credit Management Diploma or similar
  • Superior spreadsheets skills and a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Syspro or similar software is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Knowledge and understanding of reporting is required


Advantageous
  • Experience performing full function accounts receivable duties
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
  • Proven ability to manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Appropriate handling of sensitive information
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Not afraid to ask for help or guidance from Senior Management
  • Ability to think “out of the box”
  • Ability to make difficult decisions and uphold managements instructions
  • Ability to build good relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Understand the importance of accuracy and attention to detail Strong computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages
