Our client is a dynamic SME who, is looking for a skilled Finance Manager to join their expanding team. This is more than just a finance role-it's a chance to make a lasting impact in a company with ambitious growth plans. The Finance Manager will play an essential role in that journey.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the managing director, the Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial processes and helping the business scale effectively as it grows. You will have full ownership of the finance function and will be a key player in ensuring financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. This is very much a hands on role in the day to day activities whilst building a successful and functional finance department.
Key
Responsibilities:
* Xero expertise: Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including the purchase ledger, sales ledger, payments, and invoicing. Due to the high value nature of individual sales, the volume of transactions is low, hence the role will also include processing.
* Financial reporting: Produce monthly management accounts and other weekly metrics for presentation to the management team.
* Stock: Implement a new stock & WIP system to allow more accurate measurement of product margin and improved stock management. Working with the operations team to design and embed new processes, continuous monitoring of the system.
* Cash flow forecasting: Completing a weekly cash flow forecast to enable efficient management of cash resources.
* Medium term business model: Maintaining the business model used to plan the future strategy of the business.
* Bank reconciliations: Reconciliations for multiple accounts, including current, savings, and credit cards.
* VAT returns: Complete VAT submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC.
* Payment management: Responsible for mid-month and end-of-month purchase ledger payments, BACS payments, and credit card payment processes.
* Credit control: Manage credit control, including debt chasing, credit checks, and retention processing.
* HMRC compliance: Prepare and post PAYE journal entries, managing monthly payments to HMRC. Manage the relationship with the external payroll provider.
Requirements
About You:
* Experience: Demonstrable experience in a Finance Manager or similar role, ideally within an SME environment. Stock & WIP experience is desirable.
* Xero proficiency: You will be highly proficient in Xero and capable of managing a broad range of financial tasks using the software.
* Detail-oriented: You’ll have strong attention to detail, particularly when it comes to reconciling statements and processing payments.
* Adaptable: Able to manage growing demands within the finance department, with the business committed to bringing in additional support as the company scales.
* Strong communicator: Capable of working effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless financial operations.
