Our client, a leading provider of commercial asset finance, is looking for a skilled and strategic Credit Manager to join their dynamic team. The company specializes in providing financial solutions across various sectors, including transport, mining, and construction. This role offers the opportunity to play a key role in the development and enhancement of credit models, scorecards, and analytics tools to improve credit decisioning systems. You will be responsible for driving credit automation, approving credit applications within authorized limits, and ensuring the placement of high-quality assets that align with responsible lending practices.

As a proactive leader, you will manage credit risk, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and develop tailored solutions to meet client needs while enhancing overall credit model performance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Credit Model Development & Enhancement: Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of credit models, scorecards, and analytics tools.
  • Credit Automation & Decisioning: Drive automation initiatives to streamline the credit evaluation and approval processes. Approve credit applications within authorized mandate levels and implement responsible lending practices to minimize risk.
  • Risk Management: Assess and manage credit risk for both new and existing client portfolios. Conduct thorough credit assessments to ensure high-quality asset acquisition.
  • Client-Centric Solutions: Understand client needs and provide tailored credit solutions to support their financial goals, while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Credit Committee, Finance, and Operations teams to optimize credit models for performance and compliance.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain credit performance and risk reports, providing insights to senior management.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure credit operations adhere to internal policies and regulatory standards. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Mentor junior credit analysts and assist in their development to ensure high-quality credit assessments.

Skills and Experience:
  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • Qualifications: NQF Level 7 or higher in a Financial or Banking-related field (essential). CIMA, Credit Management qualification, or equivalent (advantageous).
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in credit management, preferably within commercial finance. Experience in team leadership and fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment is a plus.
