Role Description:
Deutsche Bank AG (the “Bank”) has established the Controls Testing & Assurance department (“CT&A”) as an independent function within the Second Line of Defense. The CT&A function roles up to the Management Board member responsible for Compliance and Financial Crime.
The Head of CT&A Global Service Centre (GSC) India is a senior role within the Controls Testing & Assurance (CT&A) function to drive local oversight and be the local escalation point for the growing CT&A India footprint. The respective India teams sit in Bangalore and Mumbai and include Monitoring & Testing Teams focused on Testing of Design and Operating Effectiveness of Controls/Frameworks related to Financial Crime and Compliance Risk Types, QA Teams for key Financial Crime processes, Data Analytics, IT Testing and Professional Practice teams. The respective local leads for these teams will have a matrix reporting into the Head of CT&A Global Service Centre India from a local governance perspective, whilst the teams generally report functionally into the wider global teams. The GSC operates on a concept of ‘Desk Extension’ where the teams in India are a remote extension of the onshore teams but essentially embedded as part of the onshore teams.
Additionally, the Head of CT&A Global Service Centre will oversee certain global and regional Testing Reviews directly.
The role reports to the APAC/ MEA Head of CT&A based in Singapore.

Your key responsibilities
- Site Head for CT&A responsible indirectly for 60++ team members
- Local escalation point for the CT&A book of work assigned to the Desk Extension to resolve issues on the ground to enable high quality timely delivery.
- Identify high performing talent and retain the same.
- Leading reviews where required involving Desk Extension team members and other team members globally.
- Identify growth opportunities for the GSC.
- Manage audits and visits by DB regulators / Monitors touching the GSC.
- Managing the vendor risks involved in outsourcing CT&A activities to India.
- Developing relationships with the broader DB management in India.
- Local senior for CT&A from a governance and escalation perspective
- Develop and deliver appropriate Management Information to inform Senior Management of pertinent matters, in line with global Deutsche Bank standards.
- Leading and participating in any ad-hoc projects and tasks as necessary.
Your skills and experience
- At least 12-15 experience in building and heading Compliance and/or Financial Crime testing functions/teams either from a Second or Third Line of Defense in a large financial institution with similar mix as Deutsche Bank ie experience to manage Testing related activity within a global footprint across Investment Bank, Private Bank and Corporate Bank Businesses.
- Good understanding of Compliance/AFC Risks and controls and the ways in which the risks will crystallize in practice, to be able to test adequacy and effectiveness of the Risk Management framework implemented to address those risks.
- Strong people management skills, able to deal with a diverse team, attract and retain talent, varying levels of experience so as to build and maintain a strong and capable team.
- Problem solving, able to quickly understand complex issues and set a course of action to meet specific goals.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills - enquiry, analysis, interviewing, testing.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Proactive - will seek to find the right solution and options to issues within and outside their specific remit, without being prompted and within an appropriate matrix management framework.
- Very strong sense of ownership .
- Assertive and engaging and able to quickly build and maintain effective working relationships.
- The ability to generate innovative ideas and challenge the status quo, and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity; and
- The ability to work independently with minimum direction.
