Accounts Receivable Officer

We are currently looking for an Accounts Receivable Officer to join our Finance team here at Australian Venue Co, based in Melbourne.

What will you be doing?
  • Accurately allocate cash receipts associated with customer accounts (including, but not limited to, functions, accommodation, , ticketed events and supplier rebates) across 220+ venues based on review of bank statements and provision of cash remittances from customers across both a Finance ERP (Navision), POS system (H&L) and various reservation and marketing software systems.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to identify which customer accounts unallocated receipts relate to.
  • Periodically prepare aged debtors' listings across multiple software platforms for varying audiences, including venue and head office staff to enable stakeholders to follow up outstanding invoices with customers.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers to identify misallocated transactions by venues that may have occurred from time to time.
  • Any other work as required from the Accounts Receivable Team lead.
  • Actively follow up venues to ensure invoices for events are being issued in a timely manner.
  • Resolve queries that arise in the Accounts Receivable inbox accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Regularly keep Accounts Receivable Team Lead updated with progress and status of the Accounts Receivable inbox.
  • Provide timely, prompt, friendly and efficient service to internal and external customers, particularly in relation to allocation of cash receipts to correct customer accounts and resolving queries related to misallocation of funds.
  • Proactively collaborate and co-ordinate with operational teams, direct reports, other accounting team members and relevant AVC departments to achieve optimal business outcomes.

Skills & Attributes:
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and operate in an effective organised manner.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate and resolve queries and variances that might occur.
  • Advanced Microsoft suite skills (especially Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proactively follow up venues where there are unbilled amounts or aged debtors outstanding.
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • Confidence to make decisions and work autonomously.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in a hands-on manner.
